The crossing guard is still on duty until that new automated flashing light apparatus begins working. It's a kit by Oregon Rail Supply and rather tedious to build. Circuitron makes the detection unit that uses photo cells to activate the LED's. I have it and the MRC sound system for the crossing bell and diesel horn. The crossing shanty was scratch built from plans in the out of print Kalmbach book "Bridges and Buildings". I also strung wire on the telephone poles. With clumsy hands roaming around this place, I wonder how long they will stay in place. |
